About PuppyCalcs

PuppyCalcs is a small set of free calculators for dog owners: how big a puppy will get, whether a dog is at a healthy weight, when puppies are due, and what size crate or collar to buy.

Why it exists

Most puppy weight charts are guesses averaged from a few breeders. We wanted numbers measured from real dogs, and a clear statement of how far to trust them.

Where the numbers come from

The growth curves are computed from the weigh-in records of more than 1.4 million dogs seen at US Banfield Pet Hospital clinics, published as open data by researchers at the University of Liverpool and Waltham Petcare Science Institute. Breed weights come from each breed's own published standard. The methods page has the details, including how often the estimates miss.

What it isn't

Estimates, not veterinary advice. If you're worried about your dog's weight, growth or pregnancy, ask a vet.
